Since our January PPPs progress has been great and we are on track to deliver the closed beta as outlined in our roadmap.
Here's the latest updates - our progress, plans and problems on the path to get the 10101 app to you!
Progress
App evolution 🧐🤯🤩
Our user interview round, based on a Figma prototype, finished with end of January. We had great interviews that all provided valuable insights and feedback. During the interview phase we used the Lightning synthesis method - aided by Dovetail - to structure our feedback.
The main insights that we extracted were:
Users had a hard time understanding the "Stable Sats" feature's constraints and designs.
The app's structure of multiple wallets was confusing to some users.
Some users had a hard time understanding which wallet was funded during the initial funding step.
With multiple off-chain wallets that serve different purpose, the wallet boundaries were sometimes not clear.
Some users had a hard time finding the security related actions to back up the wallet seed.
For some users it was not clear if clicking a button lead to triggering an action successfully.
Based on these insights we derived actions and worked them into the prototype.
The app was simplified; we kept the split between wallet and trading, but simplified the wallet to be an off-chain and on-chain wallet. There is no explicit trading wallet - but the new design allows to extend the app to add such a feature if it is deemed necessary in the future. Additionally, several small improvements were derived from the insights. The initial actions to, for example, backup the wallet were re-designed to be more accessible and visible. Success screens were added after all the main actions to provide the user with more immediate feedback of what happened after clicking a button.
Here's the evolution of the app's main screen from the Legends of Lightning tournament to our prototype before and after the user interviews in January:
Implementation Progress 🤓⌨️🚀
We started the implementation with fixing a scope for the 10101 MVP - a minimal viable product, which will be the basis of the closed beta launch in March. We decided to focus on the trading use case first, and add the Stable Sats feature as one of the first features after the beta launch. This allows us to invest more time into the Stable Sats feature use case and the best way to design it for the user; with another feedback round.
To be able to work on the implementation as efficiently as possible the team is currently split in half, with one half working on the app and the other working on the Lightning trading protocol improvements, orderbook and P2P communication of all the participants.
The app's user interface is progressing at good speed. To be able to simulate the behavior the app is currently filled with dummy-data; here's a first glance at the trading flow:
That already looks pretty neat… How about being one of the first to give the app a try?
For the protocol we are making use of rust-dlcs
-version of bringing DLC to lightning.
The first steps are always slow, so we started with setting up some basic tests around the standard lightning use cases:
Single-hop payments
Multi-hop payments
Just-in-time Lightning channels
Particularly the last point is important to us as it is crucial to offer great UX to our users. Once we have these fully set in stone, we can be sure that we can tackle the DLC feature without breaking any other crucial features.
Plans
Implement, implement, implement and uhm... implement!

Growth Hacking Workshop by end of Feb
The next two weeks will see more intense focus on implementing the MVP. For the end of the month we have several growth workshops scheduled - the closed beta launch is just the start, it's time to follow-up on our go-to-market strategy to stay ahead. These workshops will decide the next features to come once the closed beta was launched - the next PPP will likely provide an update what’s to come!
Problems
The weather is Australia is melting us - but who would ever complain about sunny days? 😬
So far it looks like we are going to hold our deadline and deliver the closed beta to you by end of March!
